Parents or carers with children from 14 months to three/four years are very welcome in our sessions. Through our sessions, we want to offer you an environment that supports you in doing the most important job in the world: caring for your child.
Mondays-Wednesdays from 10.00 to 12.45 p.m. at £10 per session.
The rhythm of the session
The session starts with free play for your child. This is a time for you to relax and enjoy your child, observing what he or she is doing and what is catching his or her interest. During the free play, your child can really immerse himself or herself – and it can give you the opportunity to enjoy talking to other parents and making friendships, as this can be very supportive at this stage in your life as a parent. The toys available are made of natural materials, like wood, wool, cotton, silk, and straw, for example. They have been selected to allow your child to collect and build, or to imitate you in your daily life.
There will often be an activity offered to the children – baking and painting are activities we offer throughout the year. Sometimes there is a seasonal craft to enable you to make something for your child, and it is gently stimulating for the children to see adults creating something with their hands. Our enjoyment and relaxation with the craft can help to create a peaceful mood which supports the children in their play.
After free play, the children will wash their hands and enjoy a shared organic snack of rice and oatcakes. When snack time is over, together with the children we tidy away the toys and make space for the ring time with seasonal songs and rhymes.
Most sessions, unless there is rain, you and your child will be able to enjoy playing in our lovely and spacious garden, with a play house and a sandpit. The sessions then close with a gentle puppet show portraying seasonal events.
This rhythm provides children and adults alike with a peaceful and nourishing environment. Your child will soon become familiar with the rhythm of the session, and this familiarity will provide him with a sense of security.
